Army Sticks with Display Tech Maker Universal Display Corp.
UDC has been awarded a $935,000 contract extension from the United States Army.
Under the contract, the Ewing-based company is developing a flexible communications device with a screen that can be worn on the wrist. The extension cash will be used to further develop a prototype that incorporates display technologies from LG Philips LCD Co., Ltd. and L-3 Communications Display Systems.
Universal Display said it has been working on the technology with the Army's communication electronics research and development engineering center through a Small Business Innovative Research grant.
Universal Display's partnership with the Department of Defense also includes developing flexible display technology for the Army Research Laboratories, the Navy and the Air Force Research Laboratories. - Thomas Gaudio
