Space participant to discuss recent trip, Feb. 14
Gregory Olsen, who in October 2005 became the third self-financed space participant to visit the International Space Station, will speak about his experiences at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Peyton Hall Auditorium.
The presentation will detail Olsen’s training and his 10-day, $20 million journey with the Russian Space Agency, and will include video footage from the flight.
Olsen holds degrees in electrical engineering and physics from Fairleigh Dickinson University as well as a doctorate in materials science from the University of Virginia. He has worked as a research scientist for RCA Laboratories, where he was awarded 10 patents, and is the creator of Sensors Unlimited Inc., a manufacturing and research company that specializes in advanced imaging applications. His accolades include the 2000 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' Aron Kressel Award, which recognizes individuals who have made important contributions to opto-electronic device technology.
The event is sponsored by the Princeton Astrobiology Club.
