General Information and Usage:
The Olympus MX40 is a high-resolution, reflected-light, optical microscope for 6-inch wafer inspection. In addition to brightfield and darkfield, the microscope offers
linearly polarized light and Nomarski DIC (differential interference contrast)
sample inspections. The microscope is equipped with 10X eyepieces, 1X-2X variable magnifier, and six objectives (2.5X, 5X, 10X, 20X, 50X, and 100X). Thus the maximum possible magnification is 2000X. The 50X and 100X objectives have a long working distance and, therefore, the distance between the bottom of the objective and
the top of the sample is never smaller than ~ 1 mm. A digital camera with a true resolution of 1360 x 1024 pixels is attached to the microscope. This resolution can be digitally enhanced to achieve maximum resolution of 4080 x 3072 pixels. The image buffer allows the capture of several images without saving. A high-resolution, dye-sublimation printer can be used to print images of photographic quality using a special, high-glossy paper. Please be mindful of the cost of the pictures ($5 per print) when you use the printer.
